The position

By joining our team in Technology, Digital & Innovation you will have the opportunity to:
  • Deliver expert advice on environmental risk related to underwater noise.
  • Co-ordinate on both in-house deliveries and work from external contractors.
  • Work across all business areas where underwater noise is created intentionally or unintentionally on installations within both renewables and the oil and gas sectors.
  • Conduct Environmental Impact Assessments related to underwater noise and you will coordinate/quality control environmental impact assessment work done by external parties.
  • Work within an established team and contribute to strengthen, standardize, and further develop the unit deliveries. Method development and improvement activities are an integrated part of the work.
  • Initiate the necessary research to improve environmental risk assessment related to underwater noise by cooperation with peers and national and international research organizations.

  • Master's degree or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in an Acoustics environment.
  • Acoustics competence with a strong focus on underwater acoustics, e.g. familiar with the dB scale and different metrics how underwater sound is characterized in the spectral and frequency domain.
  • A familiarity with sound propagation principles marine ecosystems and in particular marine mammals and fish in the ocean and experience with sound modelling tools is of benefit.
  • Knowledge of hearing physiology and behavioral reactions. Familiarity with risk assessment criteria for underwater acoustics.
  • Knowledge of industrial processes that generate sound.
  • An environmental mindset with a create deal of curiosity is of advantage in this comparable new field of environmental impact assessment.
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills with all types of stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Analytical and strategic mind-set with a solution focused approach.
  • A strong personal commitment to increase own knowledge and expertise.
