Ornua Foods is responsible for the marketing and sales of Ornua’s consumer brands including Kerrygold, Dubliner, Pilgrims Choice, Kerrygold, Avantage, Forto, and BEO. Markets are served by production facilities and in-market sales and marketing teams in Africa, Asia, Germany, Ireland, the UK, the rest of Europe, the Middle East, and the US.

Ornua Ingredients is responsible for the procurement of Irish and non-Irish dairy products and for the sale of dairy ingredients to food manufacturing and foodservice customers across the world. The business is supported by production facilities in Saudi Arabia, Spain, the UK, the US and by in-market teams in Africa and the Middle East.

The Role

We are looking for a lawyer who shares our values, has strong contract and commercial law experience and an ability to deliver practical, actionable solutions to business stakeholders.
You will be a pro-active legal advisor to Ornua’s global business, advising on a wide range of corporate and commercial legal areas, principally commercial contracts, intellectual property, corporate transactions, compliance, corporate governance, risk management and dispute resolution across multiple jurisdictions.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Delivering accurate and timely commercial legal advice to business stakeholders across Ornua’s global business on the legal, corporate and compliance matters that arise day-to-day. Advising on, drafting and negotiating a wide variety of supplier and customer commercial contracts including supply agreements, distribution agreements, manufacturing and packaging agreements, research and development agreements, consulting agreements, leases, licenses and other legal documents of a commercial nature. Driving the timely completion of contracts and legal projects efficiently, whilst working closely with business partners for their input and support. Identifying and delivering compliance and risk mitigation programmes to help ensure sustainable and pro-active protection of Ornua’s interests. Working effectively with external counsel where required and managing their costs. To perform any other duties appropriate to the position as may be required.

KEY REQUIREMENTS/ATTRIBUTES:
Professional qualification as a solicitor or barrister with a minimum of five years’ PQE, including at least 2 years working in the commercial/corporate department of a commercial law firm or in a similar in-house commercial role involving multiple jurisdictions. The ability to independently analyse complex legal matters and exercise strong judgement to provide concise commercially focused solutions to business stakeholders. Excellent contracting skills. Strong commercial acumen and results orientated. Be confident working proactively and autonomously. Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills and a proven team player. The ability to work well under pressure and prioritise effectively while maintaining attention to detail.

Fixed term role terminating in September 2024 (approximately 18 months depending on start time) to cover maternity leave.
