Make your mark for patients
We are looking for an International Markets (IM) External Engagement Lead who is solution orientated to join us in our APEX (Access Pricing and External Engagement) team, based in our Brussels Office, Belgium or Slough Office, UK.
About the role
The IM External Engagement (EE) Lead is a key position responsible for developing at IM regional level and enabling at country level our external engagement ambition and roadmap. You will facilitate development and prioritization of country specific goals and strategies to achieve impactful engagement with key stakeholders to yield patient, stakeholder and ecosystem impact and value across the portfolio of products. The IM EE Lead will support country development and execution of the planned approach. This is to support country teams gain deep insights on the intention and direction of relevant stakeholders, foster and inform effective and health policies that are sustainable for innovator companies, and support development of an environment that enables timely treatment access and uptake of the right standard of clinical care for patients.
Who you’ll work with
The IM EE lead will work with the regional and country teams to reinforce the mindset of patient-centricity and a collective stakeholder approach to achieve our ambition with UCB as preferred.
What you’ll do
- Develop and maintain insight, perspectives and foresight on the challenges and trends of the healthcare sector
- Apply these insights to define IM regional EE focus areas, ambition and KPIs, and strategy, approach and roadmap to achieve these, synthesizing and aligning global objectives
- Develop methodology, process, and tools for affiliates to support their formulation of EE landscape characterisation (including key initiatives, events), stakeholder mapping, priority and goal setting, and activity roadmap and engagement planning
- Work with countries to develop these to feed into launch preparation across their portfolio of products, integrating cross-functional contributions at regional and country levels
- Support countries to develop effective external dialogue, collaborations and partnerships with relevant with key stakeholders in their healthcare ecosystems, including development of relevant value proposition and narrative content
- Participate in and engage with Industry Associations in the region
- Contribute to country / cross-country policy and HTA reforms
- Build or support long-term, trusting relationships and partnerships with relevant international and regional stakeholders, be they patient organisations, policy makers, payers and influential key opinion leaders, or HTA bodies, that allow for depth of insight into their needs, objectives, challenges and budgetary considerations, and emergent trends and policies to enable effective engagement, alignment and reputation building
- Building on this deepened understanding of patient and caregiver perspectives, champion and strengthen the patient-centricity and a preferred-partner position across UCB strategies and activities
- Support the competency development of affiliate and regional members involved directly or indirectly in EE strategy, planning and execution
Interested? For this role we’re looking for the following education, experience and skills
- University degree. Preferably a master's or experience in some of the following: public health, public policy, international affairs, political science, business administration
- Proven track record in a government / public / patient affairs role in the pharmaceutical context
- Experience in EE landscape mapping and insight development and use of this to develop priority areas, ambition, KPIs, CSFs and strategy, approach, and roadmap
- Proven track record of driving stakeholder engagement initiatives, creating value and obtaining positive impact for patients ideally in the context of optimal patient access and care
- Experience in engaging and developing partnerships with key stakeholders and organizations, in particular patients, patient organizations, policy makers, government organisations
- Experience working in cross-cultural environment, building working partnerships with key markets
- Familiarity and prior experience with launch preparation
- Demonstrated strategic and flexible thinking, project management capabilities, ability to handle complex issues, and perspective to translate insights into sound advice to the business
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, with ability to work with tact and diplomacy across teams and cultures to align teams per agreed strategic direction
- Skilled judgement on positioning and tone of sensitive and complex issues
